Movares and ProRail are exploring ideas for expanding Eindhoven Central station.

Train passengers and residents are on the eve of a large-scale redevelopment of Eindhoven Central station. This project, which is part of the MIRT exploration of the public transport hub in the Brainport region of Eindhoven, is a response to the growing demand for better and more regional and international train connections. With the Brainport region Eindhoven experiencing explosive growth in terms of employment and housing construction, there is an urgent need for improved infrastructure.

The plans include the addition of two additional platform tracks at Eindhoven Central station, in addition to adjustments to the existing rail infrastructure. This expansion is crucial to cope with the increasing pressure on the accessibility of the region. The Brainport region expects 72.000 new workplaces and 62.000 new homes, of which 10.000 in the center of Eindhoven. These developments put considerable pressure on the existing capacity of the Eindhoven rail junction.

The collaboration between Movares and ProRail not only promises improved infrastructure for Eindhoven and the surrounding area, but also sets a new standard for sustainable and innovative construction practices.

The rapid growth of the Brainport region Eindhoven, with 72.000 new workplaces and 62.000 new homes, requires a significant expansion of the mobility infrastructure.

Movares, a renowned engineering firm, is responsible for investigating possible solutions together with ProRail. They will assess which components are feasible and which alternatives are preferable.

Their expertise is not just limited to this project. Movares is also involved in other important projects, such as the restructuring of the Gageldonk-West district in Bergen op Zoom. Here they work on a mix of new homes and the improvement of public space in collaboration with the municipality and housing association Stadlander.

ProRail also plays a crucial role in this project. Their focus is on sustainable construction practices, such as encouraging zero-emission work on construction sites. Together with Movares, they are working to evaluate pilots for emission-free purchasing, an essential step in tackling CO2, nitrogen and particulate matter emissions. The goal is to achieve a uniform strategy that is both effective and feasible.
