When returning a diesel vehicle, you receive a credit that can be spent on traveling by public transport or with a shared vehicle, the use of a transport service or as a contribution to the purchase of a bicycle or an electric (moped or moped) bicycle.

To improve the air quality in The Hague, a subsidy scheme was also chosen at the beginning of this year for the dismantling and exchange of diesel (delivery) cars and mopeds and light mopeds with a combustion engine. This exchange subsidy is a success, the subsidy ceiling of € 325.000 has been reached and will therefore be increased by € 250.000.

In 2022, 540 diesel vehicles will have been taken off the road with this subsidy. This is good news for everyone who can purchase an electric (moped) bicycle as a result, for the air quality of The Hague and for the climate. I am therefore pleased that we can continue the subsidy until March 31.

The municipality wants to reduce the share of diesel vehicles and mopeds in the city and thus make the air in the city cleaner and reduce nitrogen emissions.

For these purposes, the municipality is now also looking into the feasibility of a zero-emission zone for city logistics in the coastal zone of The Hague. For the center of the city such a zero emission zone will start in 2025, according to the municipality.
