Due to the measures against the corona virus, the winter sales in 2021 in Flanders will not start until Monday, January 4, 2021. The sale will take place to implement the seasonal renewal of the seller's range. It occurs through accelerated sales and reduced product prices. When the Dutch come to Flanders, a corona test is necessary prior to the visit. The test must not be older than two days. 

There will be checks at the border, the Belgian authorities decided on Friday. To prevent the spread of the corona virus, the government has announced that it wants to limit travel to Belgium more. For example, Dutch people who want to visit Belgium must be able to demonstrate a negative corona test. After all, the Netherlands is regarded by Belgium as a 'red' country and strict rules apply with regard to travel. 

If you plan to travel to Belgium or return to Belgium after a stay abroad, you must do the latter travel advice read. Belgium fears a large influx of Dutch people who want to shop at their southern neighbors during the sales. According to the federal police, there will be systematic checks. The road police, railway police and aviation police are already carrying out checks, but will tighten them from Friday. The new measures will remain in effect until January 15th. This year, the winter sales place from January 4, 2021 to January 31, 2021.
