Unfortunately, it turned out that Panteia incorrectly calculated the new cost shares, with the result that the NEA index had to be adjusted downwards by 0,6% to 3,4%.

In the past week it has become clear that the calculations behind the NEA index for 2024, an essential instrument for determining cost developments in taxi transport, were not carried out correctly by research agency Panteia. Initially, the index was set at 4,0%, but after a revision a downward adjustment of 0,6% was necessary, bringing the index to 3,4%.

This error is regrettable and the Social Fund for Mobility (SFM) apologizes for the inconvenience caused. At the same time, they emphasize the importance of an accurate NEA index and assure that measures will be taken to prevent recurrence of such errors in the future.

The NEA index is drawn up annually by Panteia on behalf of the Social Fund for Mobility. This index plays a crucial role in determining the costs of taxi transport for the coming year. It combines a correction of the current year's costs with a forecast of expected cost developments in the following year. In these calculations, Panteia uses reliable and consistent indicators such as the CBS consumer price index, estimates from the Central Planning Bureau and the Collective Labor Agreement for Healthcare Transport and Taxi.

Research agency Panteia adjusts NEA index after discovery of calculation error, emphasizes the importance of accurate cost determination in taxi transport.

It is important to emphasize that the NEA index does not apply retroactive adjustments, but only serves as a basis for determining the correct cost level for the upcoming year. It takes into account both increases and decreases in costs.

The reliability of the index is evident from the fact that over the past six years the difference between the deviation and the estimate is virtually nil. However, within a year, significant deviations may occur on certain cost items, such as fuel. Depending on the agreements made between the carrier and the client, these deviations may have financial consequences.

Social Fund Mobility

On behalf of the Social Fund for Mobility, Panteia produces an annual overview of the latest average cost developments for taxi transport. Panteia calculates the cost development index in absolute independence. The NEA index is usually announced in the last week of October. Full details and explanations of the NEA index are available in the online published report.
