The first trip between Hasselt, Genk and Maasmechelen of the electric trambus is planned for April 2024.

After the announcement of the long-awaited Spartacus project, there were many questions about the specific route that the electric trambus would follow. In particular, the challenge of limited space in certain places created uncertainty and speculation. Now, however, De Werkvennootschap, the Flemish agency leading the project, has the first plans revealed, shedding light on the still-unknown details of the trajectory.

According to the plans presented, the free bus lane for the electric trambus will be built on the inside of the large ring road, between the current carriageway and the service roads. This strategic positioning will not only improve the flow of the trambus, but also help to minimize the number of conflicts with other traffic.
