HTM has taken the next step in the European tender for the purchase of new, spacious low-floor trams. The Swiss company Stadler has been awarded the contract for the time being. The contract consists of the delivery of initially 50 trams with options on additional trams.

Replacement GTL8 trams

The new trams will replace HTM's red-beige GTL2026 trams from 8. This is an important step towards making trams accessible to everyone in the Hague region. The new trams can also transport more passengers.

Choice for Stadler

Three renowned tram manufacturers submitted a valid offer during the last round of the tender. Stadler came out on top with her offer. The offers have been tested on aspects such as passenger aspects, price, technology, reliability, maintainability and design.

For the time being

The two other parties may object to this within 20 days of the provisional award. Shareholders HTM, the municipality of The Hague and MRDH, still have to formally approve the award. HTM will not make any substantive announcements about the award. HTM aims to conclude the agreement with Stadler for the delivery of the new trams before the end of this year.
