It looks like a science fiction story, a car that can fly, yet it is reality. The Japanese company SkyDrive has made a successful test flight with the SD-03 in Japan, a one-person 'flying car'. The company announced this on their website. This flying car can take off vertically and land again. VTOL or Vertical Take-Off and Landing. The test was conducted on Toyota's 10.000 square meter test track. The SD-03 was piloted by a helmeted pilot during the four-minute test flight and was completed without further problems. The pilot was assisted by a computer assisted operating system. On the ground, technical personnel monitored the flight conditions and performance of the flying car.

SkyDrive wants to bring the flying car to the market by 2023 at the latest. But then also in a flying two-seater. Videos of the test flight can be found on the SkyDrive website. The aim of the company is that this flying car will serve as a new means of transport in busy urban areas for the near future.
