In the Netherlands, a 'price war' has started around the electric car. Part of this price reduction comes from a subsidy that the government has introduced for private individuals. Don't confuse this with a discount. The subsidy of 4000 euros applies to every new electric car that has been registered since 4 June. In marketing at various car brands and companies, it is noticeable that the words discount and subsidy are used interchangeably. The discount you can negotiate is separate from the subsidy. It does not come from the importer or seller.

The Chinese MG ZS surprises not only with its high safety score in crash tests, but also with its low price: barely 30.000 euros for a richly equipped, fully electric SUV. Recently, MG was the first to announce that the electric MG ZS has immediately become 8000 euros cheaper. The Dutch importer of MG, the company Van Mossel, is offering an extra discount of 4000 euros on top of the government subsidy.

Also good news for those who love Nissan en Renault. The subsidy also applies here, but by renting the battery pack instead of buying it can be even cheaper. Renault delivers the new Zoe from 29.590 euros, thanks to a discount of 4000 euros that the Dutch importer currently offers. 

Nissan is also participating in the 'price war'. Like MG and Renault, Nissan has decided to double the € 4000 subsidy for the Leaf with an additional € 4000 discount out of pocket. This allows you to buy the Leaf with the smallest battery pack (40 kWh), included subsidy, already for 28.990 euros.

The Dutch government wants to make the purchase of new and used 100% electric cars more attractive for private individuals. If you are a private individual and you buy or lease a fully electric passenger car in the smaller or compact middle class on or after June 4, 2020, you are eligible for the Subsidy Electric Passenger Cars Private Individuals (SEPP). 

De subsidy scheme is for both new and used electric passenger cars. This subsidy is only for private individuals (natural person who privately buys or leases a car). You are eligible for a one-off subsidy if the conditions are met. The subsidy scheme runs from July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2025, unless the budget runs out earlier.

The scheme is limited to cars with a catalog value of at least € 12.000 and a maximum of € 45.000. The new price also applies to used EVs, so a somewhat older Tesla will soon be left out.

How nice would it be to have your own charging point, just at your home in the driveway. But be careful because the charging stations are quite at the price, so inquire well about the conditions and possibilities for the connection. With a charging station at home or in the neighborhood, you no longer have to go to the petrol station.

In order not to get lost in the jungle of loading units, installers and unforeseen costs, Hyundai offers via Vattenfall InCharge one smart 22kW charging point with Dynamic Load Balancing. This ensures that the electricity network of the house is not overloaded and that no (future) adjustments are required in the meter cupboard.

It also looks good for buyers of some petrol engine brands. The new BPM rates that will take effect on 1 July as a result of the transition from NEDC to WLTP, which are favorable for a number of new cars.
