A group of 300 passengers is en route from Lima in Peru to Amsterdam on a repatriation flight. Among them are residents of the Netherlands, Ukraine and India. They have been trapped in Peru since the corona outbreak. Passengers gathered in the capital Lima before being taken to the airport. 

Peru has been hit hard by the corona virus. Nearly 120.000 people became infected and nearly 3500 people died from the virus.

According to the Dutch embassy, ​​they are 'very happy that they can return home'. "They have been detained here for a while," an embassy representative told Reuters news agency. "Some will fly to other European countries."

It is the third repatriation flight from Peru to Amsterdam, organized by the Dutch embassy. So there are more than 300 passengers on board. About 55 of them remain in our country. The rest will fly on to other destinations. Many of the people now flying back had traveled to Peru as tourists RTL news. The airports were closed in March after the coronavirus broke out. As a result, the passengers were unable to move.
