According to Laurens Meyer, there is no reason to keep the beach tents in Scheveningen closed, on the contrary, that will only cause more inconvenience if it does not happen with the nice weather and all the free days of the next two weeks. Meyer wonders what argument The Hague still has to keep the terraces closed.

Catering entrepreneur Laurens Meyer responds and supports André Triep, the chairman of the Association of Beach Operators, who called for part of the beach bars in The Hague to open again on Wednesday. The association sent a letter to the municipality of The Hague on Sunday afternoon announcing this step.

take fine for granted

That entrepreneurs of the beach bars in Scheveningen will soon take the fine for granted, and Meyer understands that. They have no other choice. Everything has been invested to be as good as possible for the guests. Costs are still spared, because the guest expects a lot and the competition is high.

“It is therefore terrible to hear that some politicians dare to say quietly that you do not have a healthy company if you cannot survive a month-long shutdown. Only someone who has never done anything, has invested or has run a risk in that way, can make such stupid comments, ”said Laurens Meyer in a comment on his LinkedIn account.

The municipality says it received the letter. "We have seen the letter and will not respond to it now. It is first up to the cabinet to announce what will be possible from 1 June. After that, the municipality will announce how the relaxation will be arranged within The Hague and Scheveningen ', according to a spokesman for the municipality at Broadcasting West.
