A temporary 'lockdown' is, according to Prime Minister Rutte, a possibility in the long term. Rutte keeps open the possibility of temporarily halting public life in the Netherlands in the fight against the corona virus. Because the healthcare capacity in our country is still sufficient, such a lockdown measure is not an issue at the moment.

Experts say that the Dutch corona policy is good. A lockdown would be nonsense now. If the health care system becomes overloaded, it is also 'conceivable' in the Netherlands that more shops close and no one is allowed to take to the streets without good reason.

Just across the border, everyone should stay at home as much as possible. The federal government announced this after a meeting of the National Security Council. Belgium follows the example of Italy, Spain and France, which were already completely locked earlier.

so everyone should stay at home as much as possible

Only necessary trips (work, buying food, doctor or pharmacy) are still allowed with our southern neighbors. The measures will take effect from this afternoon and will certainly apply until 5 April. Outdoor exercise is allowed. It is important to keep a reasonable distance.

Food stores just stay open. Hoarding is therefore not necessary. At supermarkets, access is limited to 1 person per 10 square meters, a customer may also stay in the store for a maximum of 30 minutes.

what to do in the Netherlands with 'lockdown'?

As an entrepreneur, make sure you are well prepared so that everyone can work from home as much as possible. Ordering or picking up an extra notebook today can ensure that you can organize everything well tomorrow when a 'lockdown' should become a reality.

Notify customers in advance of the decision taken that employees work from home and this may lead to a possible loss of service. We must all make the best of it and there is an understanding of this in society where everyone needs each other more than we think. Keep communicating and, above all, keep in touch with your employees, and you can do that through a 'digital meeting'.

Companies that cannot guarantee the rules in the event of a 'lockdown' must close. If companies ignore the rules, they risk heavy fines or even a closure from the government or municipality.
