British driving licenses remain valid for 185 days after a no deal Brexit from the moment a UK citizen settles in NL. British driving license holders resident here may exchange their driving licenses for up to 15 months after the Brexit date in accordance with the rules applicable to the exchange of EU driving licenses.

UK citizens can continue to drive during that period, provided the British driving license is valid. Exchange is possible under the same condition as for Brexit (choice between new driver's license or replacement driver's license). There is no need to retake the exam.

Border control processes

After a no-deal Brexit, the Dutch sea and airports will soon be the external border of the European Union with regard to the UK. This means that all goods crossing the border - unlike now - are subject to customs formalities.

Since the UK is not part of the Schengen area, checks are already underway persons place. These controls will expand somewhat when the UK leaves the European Union. Additional rules will also apply to the import and export of animals and products of animal and vegetable origin.
