Member of Parliament Van Raan (PvdD) has meanwhile received an answer to the parliamentary questions he posed to the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management about the alleged pushing through of growth at Schiphol, while shrinkage is necessary to achieve within the limits of the climate, living environment and safety of humans and animals. stay.

When asked how Cora van Nieuwenhuizen Wijbenga will do justice to the criticism of the Residents of the Schiphol Area (BOS), the Minister replied that she does not share the opinion. The intention has been carefully prepared and weighed up. As stated in the letter of 5 July last, the government has decided on the system for the future development of Schiphol in the medium term.

This concerns a transitional period in which we work in line with the perspective of the Aircraft Memorandum, until this perspective has been elaborated into concrete usable instruments. In addition, the number of people who are classified as seriously hindered on the basis of the current system must demonstrably decrease every year.

In other words, Schiphol can only earn growth after there has been demonstrable nuisance limitation. In the coming period, the Minister will discuss the medium-term approach outlined in the letter with the parties involved and the House will inform about the further details of this approach this autumn.

In the run-up to this decision, both the ORS and the ministry went through an extensive participation process with various meetings and options for responding. All interests were carefully weighed on the basis of various participation processes, the report of the chairman of the ORS and the advice of the Council for the Living Environment and Infrastructure (RLI).

The long-term plans will be included in the Aviation Memorandum, for which an extensive research and participation process will also take place.
