The first copies have already been spotted in Amsterdam: an e-bike for two people. The Doppio Classico is a cross between a bicycle and a scooter with which you can ride 25 km per hour on the bike path without a helmet. The electric motor, like a normal e-bike, provides support as soon as you pedal.

The most striking item of the Doppio is a sturdy, long saddle, the buddy seat, which fits two people. The aluminum frame has a load capacity of 180 kg. Power source of the Doppio Classico is a removable battery of 840Wh, with which you can drive up to 70 km.

The color LCD screen keeps track of how fast you cycle (e-bikes are legally limited in the Netherlands at 25 kilometers per hour), how long the battery lasts and when the next service is needed. The bike also has a USB connection to charge the mobile phone, plus an alarm system and a GPS tracker.

Doppio was founded by Peter Eiselin, mountain biker and amateur cyclist.
“There is enormous potential when you consider the market for e-bikes, bicycles and scooters. Our goal is to grow at 100 percent per year. ”

Doppio plans to sell 500 e-bikes in the first year. It especially has high expectations for the new tax scheme that will take effect on 1 January 2020. From January 1, companies can make an e-bike available to their employees, who then pay 7 percent of it privately. That would amount to € 2.500 per month privately for a bike of € 7,28. Doppio in Amsterdam also plans to take advantage of the stricter legislation for scooters with a blue license plate. They are no longer allowed on the cycle path within the ring and the Doppio is.
