In collaboration with IRMA the government is working on a unique privacy-friendly identity platform with which users can only share the information they need.

On June 6, the eIDAS cooperative network gave a positive opinion for the notification of the eTD system (agreement system for Electronic Access Services) specifically for eRecognition. A positive opinion means that the cooperative network has agreed that eHerkenning may be notified as a European recognized login tool. eRecognition meets all eIDAS requirements and can be used across borders. A nice milestone in the step to use eHerkenning abroad.

Simpler business in the EU

Electronic identities (e-IDs) are emerging across Europe. More and more countries are coming to the conclusion that the old-fashioned 'copy passport' is really no longer possible in 2019.

According to SIDN marketing manager Michiel Henneke, online authentication in the Netherlands will get a big boost in the coming years with the adoption of eRecognition by entrepreneurs. We see a similar development in other countries, including Denmark.

An e-ID has long been commonplace in Denmark.

The Danish example shows what is possible with a widely applicable electronic identity. These are emerging in the Netherlands, not driven by the government, but by the market. Especially eHerkenning is on the rise now that parties such as the UWV are going to use it to identify entrepreneurs.

All Danish citizens have an e-ID (NEM ID) that makes online identification very easy. This makes it possible to quickly identify identities online and to prevent abuse, for example.
