Arjan Wiering has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Munckhof Groep BV, an important player in the Dutch transport sector.

This appointment, effective April 3, 2024, marks a new phase in the company's leadership. Wiering, 44, takes over the role from Tom Roefs, who, after years at the helm, moves on to the position of vice-chairman at InfraMobility NV, the umbrella organization of Munckhof and its Belgian counterpart, Hansea.

The acquisition of Munckhof by the Belgian Hansea in 2022 was a strategic move that laid the foundation for further integration and cooperation within the European transport sector. Merging the expertise and resources of both companies under the InfraMobility umbrella has already paid off, with significant improvements in finance and HR. Wiering's appointment and Roefs' new role are the next steps in this evolving business strategy.

Tom Roefs, who has led Munckhof through various growth phases, will focus on important aspects such as commerce, asset management, purchasing, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) in his new role at InfraMobility. Together with Bernard Gustin, the current chairman, he will further chart InfraMobility's strategic course. Roefs emphasized the importance of this development within the group's strategy and expressed his pride in the current Munckhof. He is convinced that Wiering, in collaboration with Financial Director Patrick Straetemans and the Senior Management Team, will lead the organization to new heights.

Arjan Wiering, who has fulfilled the role of COO since April 2023 with responsibility for all Passenger Transport activities, is known for his strong leadership qualities and in-depth knowledge of the transport sector. Are promotion becoming Managing Director is seen as a natural step forward, both for him personally and for the organization. Wiering himself has not yet publicly commented on his new position, but insiders report that he is enthusiastic and ready to tackle the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
