Easter is coming and that means that many people will have a few days off.

The Easter weekend of 2024 promises to herald a colorful and musical spring with a range of events and activities throughout the Netherlands. From the bustling Paaspop Zieuwent in Gelderland to the family-friendly Werkspoor Festival in Utrecht, Dutch people and visitors from all over the world are treated to a unique mix of culture, music, and community spirit.

Easter doll Zieuwent, a festival that has its roots deep in Dutch music culture, has an impressive line-up. On March 30, three stages will be home to a variety of bands, with nine acts taking to the stage each evening. From Dik Hout, known for their contribution to Nederpop, to the energetic ABBA tribute band GIMME! GIMME! GIMME!, provide a musical spectacle that will delight both avid festival goers and casual music lovers.

In Utrecht, the historic Werkspoorkathedraal transforms into a vibrant epicenter of music, gastronomy, and fun for the whole family. The Werkspoor Festival, which is free of charge from March 29 to April 1, offers not only an extensive music program but also culinary surprises and activities for young and old. The youngest visitors can look forward to craft activities, a children's disco, and even a ride on the Ferris wheel, which offers spectacular views over the festival grounds.

A special sporting highlight is the Rosa-Run in Sittard, a marathon with a twist. This event, which focuses on inclusivity, invites teams of runners to cover the marathon distance within four hours. What sets the Rosa Run apart is the active participation of people with intellectual disabilities, who take on the challenge together with other athletes. Proceeds from the event go to Stichting Bijzonder in Beweging, which is committed to the well-being of people with intellectual disabilities throughout Limburg.

Lovers of nature and family activities will also get their money's worth. In North Holland, the Spring Festival attracts the Sheepfold in Blaricum, while a Lamb walking tour is organized on Texel. The historic Muiderslot in North Holland offers an interactive egg hunt, and in South Holland visitors can enjoy various Easter activities at Museum Park Archeon, including an Easter brunch and a craft program for the youngest.

For those looking for a touch of nature and color, a visit to the Keukenhof or a tour of the Monnikenwerve Ostrich Farm in Zeeland is an absolute must.

This rich palette of activities reflects the diverse ways in which Easter is celebrated in the Netherlands. From music festivals and sporting events to cultural outings and nature experiences, there is something for everyone.
