The Gamma and Karwei hardware stores also make good use of shopping by appointment. Now only a maximum of fifty customers are allowed in at a time for a time slot of half an hour. A Gamma and Karwei spokeswoman says that people adhere well to the rules and advises customers to think carefully about what they want to buy in advance because of the limited shopping time.

Do-it-yourself chain Hornbach also reports that bookings for shopping by appointment are going well. “We are happy with the customers,” said a spokesman.
