You must take into account extra travel time, transfers, detour routes and crowds.

ProRail, the manager of the Dutch railway network, has set up an extensive maintenance and renewal program that will affect various regions in the Netherlands in the coming weeks. The work, which affects both the infrastructure on the track and the living environment of residents, illustrates the balance that must be sought between the need for track maintenance and the impact on daily life and the environment.

From March 9 to 18, various parts of the track will be renovated between Eindhoven and Venlo, making several level crossings temporarily inaccessible to traffic. These closures will start on Friday evening, March 8 at 23.00:18 PM and will last until 6.00:XNUMX AM on Monday morning, March XNUMX. The affected level crossings are located in Blerick, America, Deurne and Helmond, with replacement bus transport provided by NS to minimize disruption to travelers.

The work is not limited to the south of the country. Train traffic in the Randstad is also affected by maintenance operations. ProRail is working with contractor BAM on the tracks and platforms of The Hague Central station, which will lead to adjusted timetables on March 2 and 3 and from March 9 to 13. Travelers must take additional travel time, transfers and detours into account. In particular, no trains will run between The Hague Laan van NOI and The Hague Central during working weekends, where NS will use buses and travelers can also use the metro network.

In addition to the physical work on and around the track, ProRail is also committed to reducing noise pollution along the track. The Multi-Year Noise Remediation Program (MJPG) focuses on reducing noise pollution for local residents. In March, ProRail will make public the remediation plan for Oisterwijk, which will show what measures are being taken to ensure that the noise standards as established in the Environmental Management Act are not exceeded. This plan is the result of extensive calculations, technical studies and consultation with the municipality and residents, in which noise barriers, rail dampers and facade insulation are part of the proposed measures.
