In a unique look behind the royal scenes, the Royal Household Service offers a special career opportunity for horse lovers. We are looking for an enthusiastic (apprentice) coachman for the Carriage and Riding Stable department of the Royal Stable Department. This function is open for individuals with a passion for training and caring for horses, where they will play a crucial role in the preparation and implementation of ceremonial events, including the prominent Prinsjesdag.

The (apprentice) coachman will be part of a professional and close-knit team, responsible for the daily management and maintenance of the stables, horses, carriages and tack. The work includes mucking out stalls, cleaning and toileting the horses, and maintaining the stable complexes and grounds. In addition, the team is responsible for mentally and physically training the horses, both from the box and from the saddle, to ensure the best quality during official and private rides.

The ideal candidate for this position has relevant technical diplomas and/or work experience in the equestrian sector, has demonstrable driving experience and riding skills under saddle, and has extensive equestrian knowledge. In addition, good communication skills, flexibility in working hours, representativeness, hospitality, and problem-solving skills are essential. An MBO working and thinking level is required for this position, with a salary that can amount to € 3.091,60 gross per month, excluding holiday allowance and end-of-year bonus, depending on education and experience.

The Royal Household Service, which employs approximately 300 employees, facilitates the Head of State and his family in the optimal performance of their functions. The Royal Stable Department, led by the Stable Master, plays a crucial role in guaranteeing the mobility of the members of the Royal House and the maintenance of livestock and the special collection of carriages, sledges and tack.

The Carriage and Riding Stable department, consisting of 20 employees, is responsible for the practical implementation of these tasks, with an emphasis on quality, cooperation, adaptability and results-orientation.
