The maximum subsidy per project is 300.000 euros, and expenses are reimbursed up to 40%.

The Department of Mobility and Public Works in Flanders recently made an important announcement: the launch of a call for innovative pilot projects on charging infrastructure. This call is not just a routine step, but a milestone that can give a new direction to the future of mobility in the region.

According to Lydia Peeters, Flemish Minister of Mobility and Public Works, there are already about 27.000 charging points in Flanders. The goal is to increase this number to 2025 by 35.000. But the ambition extends beyond numbers alone. This call is intended to find new, innovative ways to implement charging infrastructure and thus promote the greening of the vehicle fleet.

The call has a total budget of two million euros, co-financed by the Flemish Climate Fund. The maximum subsidy per project is 300.000 euros, and expenses are reimbursed up to 40%. This gives room for creative and feasible projects. The deadline for submitting proposals is 23 October 2023. Applications can be made via the model form on the website of the Flemish government.

As the project submitter, you must agree to participate in a study into the use of the charging systems by 2026 at the latest. The necessary data must be made available.

If you are considering submitting a project proposal for the call for innovative charging infrastructure of the Department of Mobility and Public Works, it is important to understand the specific criteria and requirements. Here is an overview of the key aspects.

The projects must have an exploratory and innovative approach. This means exploring new ways to implement or improve charging infrastructure. Although the projects are of a limited scale in the subsidy phase, the intention is that they can be scaled up afterwards. The project must be complementary or additional to previous CPT project calls and what will be rolled out through normal charger and fast charger concessions.

Only projects realized in the Flemish Region after the call has closed are eligible. The projects may have a maximum duration of two years from the notification of the selection. Only costs incurred after notification of the selection are eligible for funding. Preparatory steps such as permits can already be taken.
