The new supervisory framework will apply to all travel companies as of 1 April.

Since the beginning of 2022, ACM has been using new insights when it comes to price transparency in the travel industry. In the past year, the ANVR has had extensive discussions with ACM about what these new insights mean for the display of prices by ANVR travel companies. The new supervisory framework will apply to all travel companies as of 1 April.

"While we used to work with price books in which the prices for a holiday were printed at the start of a season, we have been dealing with 'fluid pricing' for years. This means that the price continuously moves along with supply, demand and availability. Travel companies do everything they can to make their prices appear as transparent as possible for the traveler in advertisements and on the website."

Which new insights?
During the past year, ANVR has had discussions with ACM about the new insights they have gained based on (scientific) research, case law and new supervisory requirements in other sectors. This has made it clear that after 1 April the i symbol may no longer be used for information about additional costs. All information about prices must be immediately clear to the traveler. This means that information that can only be found by clicking on an i-symbol may no longer be given.

"Despite the fact that the reason for the new insights of the ACM previously lay with other companies, the ANVR agrees with the ACM that these also apply to our members. We think that this will make it even more transparent to the consumer what price he pays for holiday or trip. ANVR members are currently working on the websites so that they can also comply with this on the deadline of 1 April set by ACM".

In addition, the additional costs per booking (with the exception of local taxes and levies) must be shown in one amount. These can be split up again later in the booking so that the traveler knows in detail what is included in the travel sum. If local taxes and levies have to be paid on site, this must be clearly stated so that the traveler is prepared for this, according to the ANVR.
