Rotterdam The Hague Airport has remained within the permitted noise allowance this operating year (November 1, 2021 to October 31, 2022). This was reported by the airport to the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate on 14 November. In previous reports, RTHA announced that there was an imminent exceedance. This has not taken place. The runway steering, which had been set since May due to persistent northerly and easterly winds, worked well and runway use was back to normal at the end of the operating year.

In addition, the airport has introduced additional measures to stop (re)issuing slots and large-scale traffic, and more than 2022 fewer commercial flight movements took place in 1.600 compared to 2019 (the last normal year before Covid-19). The emergency departments flew 37% (including night penalty factor) more this year of use compared to 2019 and they flew more at night, which means that these movements count heavily in the noise calculations.

On October 31, 2022, the National Aerospace Center (NLR) delivered a new version of the input data for noise calculations for regional airports, which has been published in the Government Gazette. Version 13.4 of the Appendices includes new sound and performance data, particularly from the latest generation of aircraft, according to the Rotterdam Airport.
