During the checks, cards from Meld Misdaad Anoniem were also handed out with the aim of increasing the willingness to report.

Last week, integral traffic checks were carried out along the A4 and A7. They checked for issues such as defects in vehicles, persons with outstanding fines and the presence of prohibited substances or objects. During the checks, tickets from Meld Misdaad Anoniem were handed out to encourage people to report suspicions of crime.

More than 200 vehicles were checked. An arrest has been made for driving under the influence. A ghost vehicle has been seized and the tax authorities have imposed a number of additional vehicle tax assessments. During the checks, dozens of fines were issued, including for not being able to show the correct papers and for driving without a valid driver's license. In addition, more than 500 speeding violations have been detected by the speed camera.

For the checks, the police worked together with the Public Prosecution Service, the Tax Authorities, Customs and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. By combining information, expertise and forces from different government agencies, crime can be combated more effectively.

Report, because every suspicion counts!

During the checks, cards from Meld Misdaad Anoniem were also handed out with the aim of increasing the willingness to report. Those who are aware of their surroundings can notice possible signs of crime. For example, only at odd hours activity at a certain building in the neighborhood or in the industrial area. Or someone in the street who has all kinds of luxury goods, while that person does not have a permanent job.

Do you suspect that something is not right in your neighborhood or street? Then report this to the police via 0900-8844. Prefer to report anonymously? You can do this via Meld Misdaad Anoniem, 0800-7000. Your report can be the start of an investigation, but also the missing puzzle piece with which a case is solved.
