The CBR started a new social media campaign a while ago: Help with Driving License Struggles. They started this campaign to bring Driving License Tips and the Driving School Finder to the attention of young people. Now they also want the attention of the parents of these youngsters. Getting a driver's license is an important milestone in life. Everyone wants to get their driver's license in one go, of course, but practice shows otherwise. Last year 327.011 practical exams were taken for passenger car (B) and 172.528 candidates passed. That is 52,8 percent, slightly more than half. Last year, 34.046 practical exams were taken for mopeds and 28.272 candidates passed. That's an 83 percent success rate.

Research shows that it is very important to involve parents in the driving license process of their child. Parents can play an important role in their child's driving license process. Parents can probably be more involved in this than they might know themselves. It all starts with good preparation, choosing the right driving school is one of them. Choose a driving school with a good pass rate, nationally that percentage is on average 50 percent. You can find a driving school near you with the driving school finder on the website of the CBR.

Stimulate your child to take a theory course, they will benefit a lot during the driving lessons. If your child does not have a DigiD, make sure that he or she applies for one, your child needs this to authorize a driving school. Your child also needs DigiD to reserve a theory exam at the CBR and to be able to send a health statement to the CBR. Make sure that your child reserves his theory exam in time via My CBR. The driving school must also be authorized at the start of the driving course via My CBR. Make sure that your child sends a health declaration to the CBR immediately at the start of the driver training. Your child must take sufficient driving lessons, how many these should be can be determined by the driving instructor. An Interim test (mock test) can also help your child prepare for the driving test. Your child must schedule a driving test in time and in consultation with the driving school. It is also wise for your child to check in time for the driving test whether all documents for the driving test are available. All these tips from the CBR to parents may make it a little easier to pass the driver's license.
