Always check whether you can still get home by public transport, because the HTM night buses do not run.

Like most carriers, HTM has also had problems with personnel for some time. The Hague carrier normally has a number of night buses that run during the weekend at night – until 05.30 in the morning – from the center to Leyweg, Scheveningen and Zoetermeer, among others. These have not been running for the past few months and for the foreseeable future. The last Update to HTM travelers dates back to 26 February 2022 and the call to use the night buses again is growing.

“We are now focusing on the daytime timetable. So that all trams and buses can run on time. As soon as there is more space, the night buses will also start running again. But when that will be, we don't know yet."

Since February, partygoers and other night owls have had to make do with a taxi, bicycle or walk if they want to go home after a nightly life. The night bus is a regular bus line that only runs at certain hours in the evening and at night and sometimes only on weekends. For months, the night bus in The Hague is operated by HTM already out of circulation due to a shortage of hands. This is unsaleable for one of the largest cities in the Netherlands, according to councilor Jelle Meinesz and de passenger organization Rover.

The Hague station - HTM buses

The night buses in The Hague normally run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday on six different routes, all of which start in the center of The Hague. The last ride departs at 05.30:05.36 AM. During the day, the first bus starts its first journey at XNUMX:XNUMX in the morning. The representative Rover believes that public transport should be an attractive end to a pleasant evening out. HTM does intend to return the night bus and indicates that a new weighing moment will follow in August.

"We believe that public transport should be an attractive end to a pleasant evening out. There must be sufficient buses or trains running for this, they must be easy to find and also have an attractive price. That is good for you as a visitor, good for the entertainment sector, good for sustainability and better road safety!"

'You come home with public transport'

According to Freek Bos, many travelers have lost sight of public transport since corona. Good accessibility of a night out can contribute to recovery. Via a petition – of which the counter today stands at 3200 signatures – they want to make an appeal to reconsider the decision to cancel the night buses as soon as possible. The wish is easy and being able to go home by public transport for a good price after a theater, concert or catering visit. Rover wants to offer the collected signatures together with a bid book to the transport companies and national and local governments.
