Statistically speaking, the bus is the safest mode of transport in Europe and often cheaper as a budget alternative to the train.

The international bus company Flixbus announced on Friday that it would again introduce rides to various cities in Ukraine, not only from Maastricht but also from Antwerp. Still striking despite the European bus network growing every day and offering more than 2.500 destinations. Statistically speaking, the bus is the safest mode of transport in Europe and, as a budget alternative to the train, it is often cheaper, and on some routes even faster.

The bus company says that more and more people are returning to Ukraine. About half of the people who have left Ukraine want to return, according to FlixBus. It is also possible to travel to Kiev from Maastricht, with a change in Warsaw. The FlixBus spokesperson said that seven other Ukrainian cities, including Lviv, are also being driven.

According to the website of the national government, the color code of the travel advice in Ukraine is red. This means that it is too dangerous to travel there. Whatever your situation, don't go there. Nevertheless, an almost full bus left from Maastricht yesterday with its final destination Kiev. Anyone who nevertheless travels to Ukraine does so on their own responsibility. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot or probably cannot help you if you get into trouble.

In the meantime, there are again rocket attacks by the Russian army on, among other things, the capital Kiev, one of the destinations of Flixbus. The first bus departed from Antwerp to Ukraine for a 31-hour ride to Lviv, a city a few tens of kilometers from the border with Poland.
