"Enjoying the sun, sea and sand without any worries is not something that everyone takes for granted."

Fancy a day at the beach, but need accessibility? Disabled people can enter the sea by means of a special wheelchair. The Tiralo 2 is a wheelchair on which you can lie halfway at the same height as an ordinary beach bed. The specially designed wheelchair provides people with a functional disability a unique beach experience. In addition, thanks to the special floats, the wheelchair can also go into the sea, which is unique. Lie on a lovely stretcher, hands in the sand and of course every now and then into the sea for a swim. Everything that makes a summer beach visit so pleasant becomes possible with this unique beach and water wheelchair.

Reaching the surf with a beach wheelchair is one thing. But what if the water beckons. Then the Tiralo offers a solution. This is a special beach wheelchair with which you can drive from the sand into the water and it floats. An attendant pulls the chair into the water and the yellow armrests become floats as soon as they touch the surface of the water. The Ameland entrepreneurs also do everything they can to make their guests happy by offering people with disabilities opportunities and facilities, wherever they may be, in order to make their time on Ameland unforgettable. The wheelchair is also popular outside the Netherlands. In Zeebrugge and the other participating coastal municipalities such as Blankenberge you can also use the beach wheelchairs in July and August.

The Tiralo 2 is produced in France by L'Ensoleillade. This is a foundation with a kind of sheltered workshop, where about 80 people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities are employed. Beach pavilion Grand Plage is the location in Scheveningen where a Tiralo 2 is permanently stored that you can reserve. Do that because it prevents disappointment. The chair is a gift from the Voorall Foundation and the Haagse Sports Stimulation Foundation for the Handicapped.
