Zego, the insurtech that responds to keeping vehicle fleets healthy by offering innovative and flexible products, is partnering with Hello Mobility. Zego is known for its flexible approach to insurance. The collaboration with Hello Mobility also makes it possible to offer customers active risk management, so that fleets can drive safer, more economically and cleaner. Providing risk management is the result of a purpose, plan, policy and smart use of data, where the expertise of Hello Mobility comes into play.

Why does one company have a structurally lower claims cost than another company? Han Arts, commercial director of Hello Mobility explains: “It is mainly about culture, how safe and responsible participation in traffic is anchored in the organization. If you combine people, technology, data and marketing in the right way, you can make business traffic participation a conscious act instead of an automatism.”

Sander Kernkamp, General Manager of Zego Netherlands: “By working together with Hello Mobility, we can give our customers extra insight into the driving behavior within their fleet. This is possible thanks to the fleet scan that Hello Mobility performs on our behalf. Based on this information, in combination with data from telematics, drivers can receive advice on how to drive better. By actively encouraging safe and responsible traffic participation in this way, our customers have a solution for road safety. Safe and responsible driving becomes a business case because you can see its effects reflected in your premium.”

Kernkamp continues: “It sounds simple, but it will only work if damage prevention is actually alive within your company. The possibilities go further than road safety and damage prevention, by the way. Driving better does not only mean safer driving, but also more economical and cleaner. This includes a reduction in CO2 emissions, fuel and energy consumption and downtime, lower maintenance costs and route optimization. This helps fleets to keep not only their premium, but also other fleet costs under control.”

Han Arts: “Hello Mobility's coaches help entrepreneurs to make decisions based on driving behavior so that business processes can be adjusted. We saw that with a data-driven approach, aimed at the entrepreneur and business processes, combined with impactful actions, aimed at behavioral change towards the drivers, a total solution for damage prevention and cost reduction is created."

Arts explains: “The basis is data. Raw data is imported from the commercial vehicles via an agnostic data platform via an API link, this data is enriched with external sources and vehicle-specific algorithms. This enables us to link a driving behavior score to driving style. The score reflects the extent to which a driver drives in a clear, safe, comfortable, economical and clean way. This data makes it possible to prevent accidents, which makes us truly unique.”

The technology and data that Zego and Hello Mobility use are of high quality, very detailed and constantly evolving. In addition to using basic information, such as the way in which corners are taken, braking or accelerating, Zego and Hello Mobility collect more specific information such as speed limits on roads, including speed on matrix signs and driving in daylight or darkness.

Han Arts: “The main thing is that a driving behavior score feels fair and realistic for the driver and is based on the correct factual data. For example, speeding slightly on the highway creates a lower risk than speeding in a 30 km/h zone and you want to make that difference clear to the driver.”

Zego and Hello Mobility will work closely together to continue to provide the best and most accurate insights and advice so that fleets can drive not only safer, but also more economically and cleaner.
