Driving schools and their students have also been hit hard by the consequences of the current lockdown. Driving schools cannot perform their jobs and students cannot take more lessons or take an exam. This lock down applies from December 15 to January 19. All exams and tests and driving tests that cannot take place due to the Lock down can be made up until March 31, 2021. From December 15 to January 19, 190.000 tests, exams and driving tests would be taken, so they all have to be postponed. 

Special places have been reserved for these 190.000 tests, exams and driving tests in a reservation system, which has been open again since 18 December. More than 40.000 exams have been postponed since December 15, of which 65 percent have been re-booked. The tests, exams and driving tests that were already planned after January 19, will continue as usual, they can be rescheduled or canceled free of charge if necessary. The CBR reports this on their website.

Today Cora van Nieuwenhuizen (Infrastructure and Water Management) announced on the website of the national government that theory exams for the driving license whose validity expires between 1 January 2021 and 1 May 2021 will remain valid for longer. The theory and practical exams for logistics professions, such as truck drivers, also remain valid for longer. Exams that would lose validity between January 1, 2021 and May 1, 2021 will now remain valid until October 1, 2021. 

Due to the corona crisis, some people were unable to meet the requirements to renew their driving license earlier this year, which led to an extension of the validity of driving licenses that expired from February 1 to 30. November. People who have a driving license that expires during this period can continue driving for an additional nine months. This also applies to professional drivers whose certificate of professional competence (code95) expired before 1 December.
