Autogas Platform is organizing the annual Autogas Day on Wednesday 4 November this year. It is the third time that the trade association has drawn attention to the advantages of driving on Autogas (LPG). “Autogas is the ideal transition fuel for the existing vehicle fleet,” says the chairman of the Autogas Platform, Jordy Vrugt. Even if there are more than 2030 million electric cars on the road in 2, we will still have millions of petrol cars.

That is why we say: “use LPG as a transition fuel for the existing vehicle fleet to realize direct savings in the field of CO2, particulate matter and nitrogen”. After all, we need all the resources to achieve the climate targets. With the growing availability of the green variant of autogas (Bio-LPG), these savings will increase even further.

A lot has changed in the last ten years

“In recent years, a great many technological developments have taken place and we want to inform the widest possible audience about this during Autogas Day,” says Jordy Vrugt.

The LPG systems are being further developed and completely new systems are even being brought onto the market for the latest cars. Even with the latest engine technology for gasoline and diesel, it is just not feasible for many car manufacturers to achieve set emission limits. Autogas can offer a solution here. However, many people are not aware of the benefits and developments of LPG. The suggestion and frequently heard complaint that you have to give up trunk space for LPG, or have to sacrifice driving performance, for example, are now outdated.

Inexpensive and more environmentally friendly
The goal of Day of the Autogas is therefore to inform a wide audience about what driving on LPG can mean for them. Autogas is financially very attractive for the motorist who makes a lot of kilometers. The costs of converting a vehicle to LPG are relatively low and today an LPG system can be installed in practically every petrol car and hybrid cars. Autogas is about one euro per liter cheaper than petrol and available through an existing network of more than 1.300 filling stations in the Netherlands. The conversion costs are thus quickly recouped.

“Autogas drivers thus contribute to a cleaner environment, without having to pay a large sum of money right away,” says Vrugt.
