The effects of the corona pandemic really affect us all. In our work, in our spare time, in contact with family, friends, colleagues. And it is difficult. We simply don't know when our life will return to normal. And the corona pandemic has led to feelings of loss, sadness and loneliness in many people in the Netherlands. That is why the government will start from 6 October next with 'Attention to each other'. This is a national initiative to look after each other even more. To pay attention to each other, to each other's grief, disappointment, to insecurity, to people.

“I think it is good to do that, especially in this period when much more is being asked of us. We also want to start the conversation. How do we as a society deal with this? Elderly, young people, teachers, students, nurses, patients: everyone experiences this time differently and we can help each other, we can support each other from our own experiences. ”, Says Kasja Ollengren in the press conference after the weekly Council of Ministers.

The cabinet encourages everyone to make a contribution and, as the national government, we ask municipalities and social organizations to support this with initiatives. In this way we continue to hold on to each other, even if we have to keep a distance.
