If the corona pandemic had not intervened, traveling by train becomes increasingly attractive, faster and easier. In 2022, NS will be deploying more ten-minute trains in the Netherlands on the connections between Nijmegen-Arnhem-Utrecht-Schiphol, and between Schiphol-Leiden-The Hague-Rotterdam. The intention is that a train will run every ten minutes instead of every fifteen minutes. Due to agreements with ProRail and the Dutch Railways, trains will soon be able to run six times per hour on these routes. State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven announced this to the Lower House earlier this week. The sprinter has been running for about ten minutes between Eindhoven and Amsterdam. These trains allow travelers to travel faster and more frequently on certain routes through the Netherlands. This is also interesting for tourists.

State Secretary Van Veldhoven: 'Despite corona, building on the structural reinforcement of our track is extremely important. The train is and remains a basic facility for many people to get to work, to family or to school. Ten-minute trains are highly appreciated by travelers. This will ensure more trains on busy stretches of track, where hundreds of thousands of travelers normally travel every day. In large parts of the Netherlands, the timetable will be a thing of the past by 2022 with these ten-minute trains. '

Alderman Robert van Asten (Alderman for Mobility and Culture The Hague): 'The Hague will be even better and faster to reach with the arrival of the ten-minute trains in 2022. People can then use as many as 48 extra intercity trains every day to get to and from The Hague. to travel. It makes the train an even more attractive alternative to the car. Internationally, we see the advantage of the more optimal, faster connection for the Hague traveler with Brussels, due to the simple transfer to the IC train in Rotterdam. In the meantime, we continue to work on The Hague's international ambitions for more direct international intercity trains, such as between The Hague and Düsseldorf and The Hague - Heerlen - Aachen '.
