The corona virus is starting to flare up again in many countries, with more and more infections worldwide. Earlier it was announced that Indonesia will remain closed to foreign tourists this year. Perhaps this is a very wise choice and more countries should have closed or remained closed to foreign tourists. It is noticeable that after the last holiday period there are again more infections than before this holiday period, when the borders were still closed in many countries. As of last night, the Dutch government has changed the travel advice for all of Spain, including the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands and three regions in France from code yellow to code orange.

The rate of coronavirus infection has increased throughout Spain. The color code of the country has therefore been changed from 'yellow' (note: there are security risks) to 'orange' (only necessary trips). Travel to Spain only if necessary. After a stay in Spain, you must go to home quarantine for 10 days when you return to the Netherlands. In some parts of France, the number of Covid infections is on the rise, such as in the regions of Sarthe, Hérault and Alpes Maritimes. The color of these areas has been changed on the map from 'yellow' (note: safety risks) to 'orange' (only necessary trips, no holidays). The infection rate is still high in Paris and in the Bouches-du-Rhône region. Color code orange continues to apply for this city and region. After a stay in the orange areas, you must be in home quarantine for 10 days when you return to the Netherlands. At the moment, the rest of the regions in France remain 'yellow' on the map (note: security risks). You can go on holiday to France, but keep an eye out for the virus. With a new outbreak, the situation can suddenly change locally.

Due to this color code adjustment last night, an estimated thousands of Dutch people will have to go into Quarantine when they return home. According to the travel organization Corendon and Tui ONGOING currently about 5300 vacationers are in Spain. These organizations will contact these travelers to discuss what they want. Travelers who would still go to Spain are informed that their trip cannot take place.
