The nicest youth campsite on Terschelling will be phasing out the 2020 summer season early. It will probably not have escaped everyone that despite the measures taken, many camping visitors have become infected with the corona virus. The number of infections has risen to eight, reports the Frisian GGD. That is why, in consultation with the municipality of Terschelling and the safety region, it has been decided to gradually reduce the summer season.

This means that they will unfortunately have to cancel the guests who booked from Monday 17 August. They say they will refund the booking costs before 1 October and hope that the guests will understand. It is not without reason that Camping Appelhof is the most popular youth camping from The Netherlands. Located close to the beach and in the middle of the party island of Terschelling, the campsite attracts many young people.

The Frisian GGD calls on young people who were at the campsite last week to get tested if they have mild complaints. The owner of Appelhof, Geert van Dieren, writes on his website that the campsite will close its doors for the rest of the summer and that the summer season will be phased out. The season would last until September 1, but will end two weeks earlier. About eight hundred guests at the campsite go home.
