Keolis Sverige, the Swedish subsidiary of Keolis, received a four-year contract extension from the Swedish Public Transport Authority (PTA) Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) worth € 500 million to operate and maintain a fossil-free bus fleet in Stockholm, Sweden. The original contract, which expires in August 2022, now runs until August 2026 and includes the introduction of 15 new all-electric buses in the current fleet.

As of August 2022, the renewed contract includes the operation and maintenance of 335 fossil-free buses to the center of Stockholm and the island of Lidingö northeast of the city, with 400.000 inhabitants. Under this new contract, 15 new electric buses will complete the existing fleet from August 2022.

Keolis will also enhance the passenger experience by implementing an IT system that allows commuters to track the exact position and arrival time of the next bus and know the number of passengers on board. The 361 km long network has 41 lines, 400 bus stations, three depots and carries 80 million passengers annually. A new depot is being built with a charging system for the e-buses and 1.400 Keolis employees will commit to the management and maintenance of this network.

Present in Sweden since 2003, Keolis Sverige is the second largest player in the Swedish bus market with more than 6000 employees. It operates in six regions with approximately 1.800 fossil-free buses, covering 93 million km and carrying 240 million passengers annually.
