Just as TUI has set up a process for issuing the vouchers, they are now busy doing so for the refund of already issued ticket-only vouchers. TUI Netherlands has decided to offer customers with only a TUI fly flight ticket for a flight that was or will be canceled by TUI as a result of the corona crisis, the possibility to receive the price of the ticket in cash.

Once the process necessary to refund the tickets has been set up, the customer will have the choice of a voucher or refund of the ticket price. Customers who have already received a voucher can also exchange it for a cash refund.

First of all, it is important to clearly indicate the difference between the corona vouchers for package holidays and the ticket only vouchers. The package travel corona vouchers are guaranteed by Stichting Garantiefonds Reisgelden and are supported by both the Ministry of Economic Affairs and ACM. Naturally, a customer remains entitled to a refund, but may request that payment in cash one year after issue.

The Ticket Only vouchers have no coverage and were previously tolerated by the Ministry of I and W. However, the European Commission has made it very clear that customers should also have the option to get their money back now. Hence only the adjustment of the policy on these vouchers.

"We do not issue vouchers out of luxury. It is because those cash is simply not available within the travel companies and to ensure the continuity of many travel companies. The circumstances are so exceptional that exceptional measures had to be taken. ", said Petra kok from TUI in a response to our editorial staff.

The employees at the TUI customer services center work hard to answer all questions that come to them. These are also questions from holidays that are still booked, for next summer or next winter and certainly not all concern the vouchers.

“We would prefer to immediately refund money from the ticket only vouchers, but we are talking here about 10.000 transactions, which are not provided automatically. And manually takes way too long. So just as we have set up a process for issuing the vouchers, we are now busy doing that for the refund of already issued ticket only vouchers. And that process must of course go carefully and flawlessly, which is why we need a few weeks for that. At this moment I cannot give you details about how that process will go, because I simply do not have them yet, ”said Petra Kok - spokesperson for TUI Netherlands.

With the announced relaxation of travel advice to various European countries as of June 15, TUI Netherlands will start offering a number of destinations this summer. This concerns both car and flight holidays. Initially, a limited offer will be available. Tui will only offer those destinations where it is currently clear that Dutch travelers are welcome and that can offer a safe and comfortable holiday accommodation.
