Many of the first Belgian corona infections can be reduced to a single hotel in Northern Italy. This is evident from a report by the interpretation magazine "Pano", in which the very beginning of the corona crisis in our country reconstructed. The first days after the spring break are crucial days when a lot went wrong. “Pano” looks back, together with protagonists, experts and families.

During the spring break, thousands of Flemish people enjoy their skiing holiday in the North of Italy. At that moment, there seems to be no dirt in the sky. There are already corona infections with COVID-19 in Lombardy, three hundred kilometers away, but not in the ski areas. And so the skiers don't worry. It seems like a holiday like other years.

“At some point, the government communicated that in Belgium 23 people had tested positive,” says Dennis, who also became ill himself. “We knew then that 13 of those 23 people came from our hotel. That was almost unreal. It seemed as if the virus had entered Belgium from our hotel. ”

“Pano” investigates the first weeks of the epidemic in our country and spoke to four families who all stayed in one and the same hotel in Northern Italy. It turned out to be crucial weeks in which a lot went wrong. What lessons can we learn from those crucial weeks and corona infections?
