The cabinet has set up the Temporary Bridging Scheme for Independent Entrepreneurs (Tozo) for entrepreneurs who are in trouble due to the crisis surrounding the corona virus. These entrepreneurs receive financial support. Due to the appearance of age discrimination in this financial support, Corrie van Brenk (50PLUS) ask Minister Wouter Koolmees questions.

The scheme applies to self-employed persons from 18 years of age up to the retirement age. 50PLUS also believes that self-employed entrepreneurs entitled to AOW who are in trouble due to the corona crisis should also receive financial support from the government. However, there are also self-employed persons who are entitled to a pension. If they have a younger partner who is not eligible for retirement, they may be in financial distress due to the current crisis.

Member of Parliament Corrie van Brenk of 50PLUS stated about this written questions to Minister Wouter Koolmees of Social Affairs and Employment. 50PLUS also wants financial support for AOW-entitled self-employed entrepreneurs who are squeezed by the corona crisis.

“Where can they go for support if they fall below the social minimum?” Asks Corrie van Brenk. "They are also entitled to support!"

The government as legislator certainly pays attention to age discrimination. However, criminal prosecution is possible for other forms of discrimination, but not for age discrimination. That is why 50PLUS has drafted an initiative law to change that.
