At Volvo Cars in Ghent, the last V40 was released. The car was only made in Belgium, but that is now coming to an end. The last V40 will be in the Swedish Volvomuseum. Meanwhile, the Ghent factory is still building the V60 and the XC40.

The V40 was a popular car model. It was the smallest model of the brand. Since its launch in 2012, more than 667.000 have been made in Ghent.

The fact that the V40 has ended has no consequences for the factory, because Ghent is still building the V60 and the XC40. The latter model is very popular, the capacity will be doubled this year.

“With the latest models that are produced, something special always happens,” says spokesman Barbara Blomme. “This V40 rolled off the line to loud applause from the employees, and it will be showing off at the factory for another day. Then he goes to the Volvo Museum in Sweden. ”

The finished V40s are on sale until the end of 2019. Volvo is also building batteries for the all-electric model of the XC40, which will come off the production line in autumn 2020.

Volvo currently only offers Polar versions of the V40 and V40 Cross Country. That V40 Polar is available as T2 Geartronic (122 hp), as T3 Geartronic (152 hp) and as D3 Geartronic (150 hp). The V40 Cross Country Polar is only available as a T3 Geartronic (152 hp). The starting price of the V40 T2 Geartronic is 28.495 euros. Volvo asks 40 euros for the V3 Cross Country T32.995 Geartronic.
