402 Automotive has announced that they will fill this void with an 'International Auto Show' at Heysel from 17 to 21 January 2024.

After the announcement of the cancellation of the Auto Show by FEBIAC, the Belgian federation of the automotive sector, 402 Automotive, a Dutch event organizer, announced an Auto Show in January 2024. Nevertheless, FEBIAC confirms that it will not play an active role in these or any other external events.

After a period of economic turmoil and the withdrawal of many brands, FEBIAC stated that there was no longer a favorable context to organize a Motor Show at Heysel in 2024. After all, the Motor Show has a reputation for broad market representativeness and a high-quality exhibition in line with the standards of the OICA (The International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers).

FEBIAC also monitors the use of its protected brand names, including the Autosalon and Dream Cars. Andreas Cremer, CEO of FEBIAC, explains: “The fact that third parties use the name of the Motor Show and Dream Cars to draw attention to the events they organize creates confusion. We therefore wish to inform exhibitors, suppliers and visitors about this in good time so that everyone understands what it is about.”

With this, FEBIAC underlines the importance of transparency in the sector. The focus is on protecting the integrity of its brands and ensuring the quality of events organized under these names.

402 Automotive has announced that they will fill this void with an 'International Auto Show' at Heysel from January 17 to 21, 2024. While the public is still awaiting further details about this event, FEBIAC makes it clear that the Auto Show and Dream Cars are not a will be part of this new initiative. FEBIAC will ensure that its protected brand names are not associated with events that do not meet their standards.

While Febiac acknowledges that other automotive related initiatives are in the pipeline and applauds these initiatives as far as they support the automotive industry, the federation emphasizes that these events are in no way linked to FEBIAC organized events.

"The fact that third parties use the name of the Motor Show and Dream Cars to draw attention to the events they organize creates confusion"

This includes events under the brand names: “Autosalon”, “Dream Cars”, “Brussels International Motor Shows”, “European Motor Show Brussels Auto”, “Salon”, and “Salon de l'Auto”. FEBIAC continues to monitor the use of these brand names to prevent them from being associated with events that do not meet their standards.

So the question remains open: “The Motor Show is dead, long live the Motor Show?” Time will tell.
