Volvo is the number 1 premium brand of the month of September and retains the position of number 1 plug brand in the Netherlands.
Volvo Cars recently reported sales of 49.536 cars in September, up 4,5% from the same month last year. Demand for the company's vehicles continues to persist, especially for the all-electric and plug-in hybrid Recharge models. The company's Recharge models accounted for 31,9% of sales last month, while all-electric vehicles accounted for 12,6% of sales.
Manufacturing, which had normalized in previous months, continued to be affected in September by plant closures due to COVID-19 outbreaks in China and global supply chain disruptions. In the January-September period, Volvo Cars' retail sales amounted to 428.987 vehicles, down 19,2% from the same period last year.
The number of active subscriptions increased by 67% at the end of September compared to the same period last year. Over the first nine months of 2022, the number of Volvos sold online increased by 46% compared to the same period in 2021. This growth was driven by customer demand combined with an expanded offering in more markets.
European sales for September were 19.358 cars, up 7% from the same month last year. Sales of Recharge cars accounted for 57,9% of total sales in the region during the month.
Sales in the Netherlands increased by 4,8% compared to last year to 25.792 registrations. However, the EV market is up 17% in the month of September. The PHEV market shows an increase of 18%. The number of active Care by Volvo contracts concluded increased by 70% compared to September last year.

Volvo Cars' best-selling model for the month was the XC60 with sales of 15.621 cars (2021: 14.992 units), followed by the XC40 with 14.497 cars (2021: 11.986) and the XC90 with 7.380 cars (2021: 8508 units), thus Volvo Cars.
