It is clear that the moped market will collapse.

From 1 January 2023, riders of a light moped with a blue license plate must also wear a helmet. This is an abolition of something purely Dutch and completely unnecessary, at least according to the initiators of the petition. According to them, the entire market for mopeds will be affected and enthusiasts will be the victims.

Thinking with them, in just a few days, more than 37.000 co-signers of the petition about it too. Moped enthusiasts, dealers, and people who love the old Dutch traditions note that this law is based on panicking trying to reduce accidents on the road. The figures cited to support the decision are far from dramatic.

It is clear that the moped market will collapse. For lovers of mopeds, who often drive slower than most spedelecs, the fun will soon wear off. "There are much worse problems than the blue license plate without helmet requirement and a lot of people are the victims."

From January 1, 2023, riders of a moped (blue license plate) must wear a helmet.
