The ANWB urges the new cabinet to give car mobility the attention it deserves, thereby safeguarding prosperity and well-being for the Netherlands. More than 70% of all travel kilometers made in our country are made by car. It is expected that this will continue to be the case in the future.

To facilitate travelers and also to guarantee accessibility and quality of life for the future, the ANWB is coming up with a plan for (car) mobility. Electric driving, traffic management, influencing demand, shared mobility, cooperative and autonomous driving and road design and capacity are central to this. The ANWB's plan offers all the necessary starting points and will be widely shared with politicians.

In the plan, the ANWB focuses on passenger mobility by road, with a focus on the main road network and provincial roads. This not only concerns the physical infrastructure, but also the development and acceptance of new technology and systems, influencing behavior and the coordination and harmonization of different transport modes. ANWB.

“The population will continue to increase until 2050, and with it the demand for car mobility will also increase. Our country is not getting twice as big. This means that we have to use the available space in a smart way. The fact that cars are becoming cleaner, smarter and safer is an enormous opportunity that we at the ANWB are grasping at with both hands, but more is needed. The ANWB believes that in the future car mobility should be safe, clean, efficient, affordable and accessible to everyone.”
