We are slowly getting back to the summer holidays and that means that we see more and more caravans and folding trailers in the street. Of course everyone wants to go on holiday well prepared and that makes it nice and easy when you have your caravan or folding trailer parked in front of the door. After all, this must be well cleaned and packed (with potatoes and sprinkles) with you on holiday. What better way to do this than to park the caravan or folding trailer in front of your door. Nothing is more annoying than having to drive up and down every evening to the garage where it is parked. This parking in front of the door can of course cause annoyance in the neighbourhood, because everyone likes to park in their 'own spot'. And in the summer months it can be quite busy with all those caravans and folding trailers in the streets. And that is often no problem for a few days, but sometimes these weeks are parked in the street in a row.

Do we actually know whether parking in front of the door or in your street is allowed and if so, for how long can you have parked your caravan or folding trailer at your house? The rules for parking a caravan or folding trailer in front of the door may differ per municipality. In Helmond, for example, you are not allowed to park it on the public road for more than 7 consecutive days Eindhoven this is no longer than 3 consecutive days and in Amsterdam this is no longer than 3 consecutive days. You can see these rules per municipality in the General Local Regulations. It is of course allowed if you park the caravan or folding trailer in your own driveway or parking space and that does not cause any hindrance or dangerous situations. The rules are also different if you park it in a publicly accessible car park, which again makes a difference per municipality.
