The number of holiday bookings made by seniors has increased enormously in the last 2 weeks. “That means that this target group dares to make plans again and looks ahead, says Arjan Koster, director of Oad. It is abundantly clear that people are ready for a holiday and want to look forward to something fun in the near future. People do go on holiday a little later in the year. The holidays that are booked almost all have a departure date from June. That in itself is not surprising, given the travel restrictions that still apply, but it will put pressure on the late season ”, says Koster”.
The demand for holidays in April and May is still mainly focused on nearby. The travel vouchers, which were issued last year, are now also being exchanged a lot for a new holiday. From this week onwards, non-redeemed travel vouchers issued by the travel company a year ago must be paid out.
Arjan Koster, director of Oad Reizen: “Despite the fact that the voucher fund is not yet in the air, we have started paying in accordance with the guidelines set by the SGR and the ACM, but of course we hope that people will redeem their voucher for a new holiday. So, after an inky black year, some light shines again at the end of the tunnel for the travel world. The industry does, however, yearn for a clear perspective from the government. Please make it clear when traveling abroad, with or without a corona passport, is possible again, so that we can plan and the anticipation for everyone can really start again ”.
