The organization of the flower parade in the Bollenstreek has decided to cancel the large-scale event that was planned for April 17 due to the corona measures. This will be the second year in a row that the flower parade is canceled and so we are looking forward to the 75th anniversary version in 2022. The parade has been held since 1947 and has grown into a major event that attracts more than a million people every year. The board and the volunteers are now going to work with an alternative form.

How much we want it to be different, but in 2021 the Flower Parade Bollenstreek will not drive through the streets and avenues from Noordwijk to Haarlem. Last Monday evening we, as the board of the Flower Parade Bollenstreek Foundation, made this decision with pain in our hearts. The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing us to adjust plans. We are not inviting the world to come to the flower parade this year, but we are bringing the flower parade to the world.

Since 1947, the Flower Parade Bollenstreek has been passing through the villages and towns of our region. An event that started to give people hope and happiness again after the dark period of the Second World War. This idea of a single bulb grower grew into the largest spring event in the world. An event entirely organized by volunteers. Also this year we want to celebrate that message of hope, the celebration of spring, the start of new life, with all those enthusiasts, volunteers, sponsors and participants of the flower parade. How big or how small, the board will be working on that in the coming months.

The Flower Parade of the Bollenstreek is the largest spring festival in the Netherlands. This fragrant and colorful spectacle is celebrated by more than a million people in one week. The highlight is Corso Saturday, when colorful floats and richly flowered luxury wagons complete their 42-kilometer journey. Cheerful music and exciting entertainment make the flower parade an experience for all the senses of visitors from far and wide.
