Economical and sustainable use of the fleet through temporary use of the Airbus A350-900 at both Lufthansa hubs. With one of the most modern and most economical long-haul aircraft from Frankfurt to Chicago, Los Angeles and Tokyo. For the duration of the winter schedule (until the end of March 2021), Lufthansa will deploy four of the currently parked Airbus A350-900s at its hub in Frankfurt. The Airbus A350-900 is one of the most modern and environmentally friendly long-haul aircraft in the world.

The A350-900 will serve Chicago and Los Angeles from Frankfurt in the coming months, temporarily replacing the Boeing 747-8 for this period. From December, the ultra-modern A350-900 will also fly from Frankfurt to Tokyo (Haneda) instead of the Airbus A340-300. All flights are operated by cabin crew and flight crew from Munich.

The A350-900 not only offers Lufthansa customers a top product on board, the aircraft is also extremely economical and quiet. Compared to a Boeing 350-900, the Airbus A747-8 consumes about twelve percent less kerosene and emits less CO2. By using the long-haul aircraft in Frankfurt, the fleet will be economical in the long term and will be used optimally under the current preconditions.

Lufthansa's A350-900 fleet currently includes 16 aircraft in Munich. Due to the sharp decline in the number of flights offered due to the corona pandemic, only seven A350-900s will initially be deployed in Munich in the winter 20/21 schedule on routes to North America and Asia. Lufthansa reports this to her website.
