Service is a top priority at KLM and they do everything they can to keep improving this service. KLM recently announced that KLM President and Chief Executive Officer, Pieter Elbers, has officially opened the new robot for the production of World Business Class meals at KLM Catering Services (KCS). KLM Catering Services is the only company in the world that uses such a robot.

With the use of the new robotic system, processing costs are reduced and it becomes easier to process adjustments to the meal trays. This not only makes production cheaper, but also more flexible and customer-oriented because more types of products can be covered on different types of scales. Special passenger wishes can be more easily met. The production is also twice as high compared to the previous system, namely 30.000 units.

“The commissioning of this robot at KCS takes place in a Covid19 reality that we could not imagine when we made this decision a few years ago. A nice piece of innovation and investing in the future. We now only use a fraction of the capacity of 30.000 meals per day. Nevertheless, I am happy that we are taking this step. After all, we must continue to innovate and look to the future. Also, or just now! '

Pieter Elbers - President-director KLM

'It is important to continue to innovate and invest in these difficult times. This increases the quality of our product. I am therefore proud that KCS will be the only catering company in the world to start using this mechanization '.

Maarten Stienen - Managing Director KCS
