It has been a completely different summer from other years. Hopefully the summer of 2021 will be different. Due to the consequences of the corona crisis, we have not been able to go where we would actually like to. Many holidays ended in cancellation. The corona summer is over. After a summer of staying at home, day trips in your own country, doing jobs in and around the house, and the many Dutch holidaymakers will be able to travel normally again in the summer of 2021.

This is shown by research by Vliegickets.nlMore than half (54%) of those surveyed expect to be able to travel again in the summer of 2021 as they did before the corona era, while 36% expect that this will depend on the availability of a vaccine. The expectation for the summer of 2021 is in any case different from the reality of this summer. 66,9% indicate that they have stayed in the Netherlands. Almost half of the respondents (48,2%) stayed at home, while 18,7% went on holiday elsewhere in the Netherlands.

Not so nice summer

More than 88% of those surveyed had already planned a vacation. Only 12% of those people were able to leave on holiday without any problems. The other vacation plans did not go through at all (53,6%) or had to be changed (22,8%). No fewer than 62% experienced the summer as less enjoyable than normal.
